Juliet is five months old! She is getting to be such a big girl.
We hung onto the swaddle for about a month after Juliet started rolling over, but then she started rolling over IN her swaddle, which didn't seem safe. She handled the transition out of the swaddle pretty well! Now she loves to sleep on her side, almost onto her tummy, and it is adorable.
Juliet is still a very happy girl, and talks almost constantly! I am looking forward to the start of consonant sounds, but for now we are enjoying her shrieks. She has a wonderful laugh, and still loves to laugh at her brother.
Juliet has great hand eye coordination now! She loves playing with toys, and can grab small items like her pacifier. She loves to hang onto my hair when I'm carrying her, which isn't so fun for me! If I'm carrying her around while I straighten up or fix a snack for Ben, she'll make a grab for anything I'm holding.
We also started solids this month. Juliet seemed very ready, even though it was pretty early. She was obviously ready! Now she has had sweet potatoes, peas, and apples. We are making her food like we did for Ben, and we're introducing new foods slowly. Tomorrow she gets zuchinni!
Juliet continues to nap like a champ but is challenging at night. She'll nap for an hour and a half or longer twice a day, especially after having something yummy for lunch. At night she wakes up every three hours. You could set a clock by it! She isn't hungry; at her 4 month appointment the doctor said it is just her brain activity cycles and it will get better as she gets older. I'm trying to be patient because I'm not very good at sleep training!
Our unofficial measurements put Juliet at 13lb 4oz and 24". According to an online calculator, that's 25th percentile for weight still but only 10th percentile for height. I'm reserving judgement until her 6 month appointment with the doctor! She is fitting very nicely in her 6-month outfits now!
We have a nice little routine right now. Up and eat at 6:30, nap at 9am. Eat at 10:30. Solids at 11:30. Nap at 1pm. Eat at 3pm. Solids at 5:30. Bath at 7, bedtime at 7:30. Nights still are usually back pat at 10:30, nurse at 2am, back pat at 5:30. About time for some sleep training!
