Utah - Escalante
The 2nd day of our Utah trip, our actual 10th anniversary, we spent the day in a slot canyon guided by Excursions of Escalante. We drove about half an hour away from the town of Escalante, rappelled into a slot canyon, and then worked our way about 2 miles through the canyon. It was a combination of down-climbing, sliding, and more rappelling. Even though we ended the canyon with shoes completely caked in sticky red mud (check out the photographic evidence below), that was just part of the experience. We're not the types to usually repeat a vacation, but we've already talked about when we can do this again! After we hiked back to the car and rode back to town, we took a scenic drive north of Escalante (away from our hotel for the night) because we'd heard it is such a beautiful drive. It was wonderful! We stopped for dinner at the Burr Trail Grill before driving back to our hotel in Tropic, UT.
