Ben had slid on her rug and hit the corner of her coffee table right on the bridge of his nose. The cut was very impressive - when the bleeding eventually slowed down, we're pretty sure we could see the bone. We tried an Urgent Care center first, and they got us in really quickly, but after evaluating him, they recommended we take him to Fairfax County hospital. This hospital is right across from the Exxon office in Fairfax! They have a pediatric emergency room, and they were amazing. Ben was amazing, too - once the initial pain calmed down, so did he, and he was all smiles, charming all the doctors and nurses.

Virginia - Day 1
We started off our trip to Virginia with a bang - literally! After our evening flight was delayed almost two hours, we ended up getting into Virginia about 1:30am. Here are the kids being troopers waiting at the airport:
Since all the rental car places were closed by then, my awesome sister picked us up. We all fell into bed, only to get up in the morning to go back for our rental car. We had just gotten back from getting the car, and were downstairs finding some of our stuff in our suitcases, when we heard a bang and a wail and my sister calling for us.

We were brought back to a room after about 10 minutes, where there was a TV with a movie showing. A lady came in to explain to Ben what would be happening with his stitches, and gave him a pillowcase to decorate as a cape - this is what would go over his arms to keep him still during the stitches. She then held an iPad over his face so he could watch Dora during his stitches! The only part of the whole procedure that was upsetting to him was the anti-anxiety medicine they had to spray up his nose.
Of course we would have preferred for the whole thing not to have happened, but we couldn't have asked for better treatment at Fairfax County hospital. We had to change our next-day waterpark plans a little bit, but overall the incident didn't slow Ben down for the trip. Luckily the rest of the vacation was incident-free! The rest of our day was pretty quiet, just hanging out with the cousins. Juliet went downstairs to "play" but I found her finally asleep in a chair after the long night and exciting day.
