Worn Out

I went out with the running club this morning - my first run since early May! The doctor told me to keep my heart rate under 140bpm, so I borrowed a heart rate monitor from a friend. It was difficult to keep my heart rate that low, I had to run really slowly. When I got home I did a little reading online, and the 140bpm rule is kind of outdated, since heartrates can vary so much from person to person. A newer guideline is to stick to an exertion level of 5-7 on a scale of 1-10. And don't work to the point of exhaustion, just to that great, energized feeling after a workout. But even just doing a slow 2 mile jog felt good, it was nice to get back out there!
