Random Act of Kindness

Last night we had a holiday dinner for a group I volunteer with at work. At one point in the evening, our fearless leader Lori pointed out that one chair in the room was actually occupied by two people! She said we were about to go through a ton of changes, and the words "sleep, eat, and poop" were going to take on new meaning. They couldn't really help with the sleep part, and I would have to handle the eating part for a little while, but they could help with the poop! And then they brought in this awesome diaper cake.

There are little baby shampoos and spoons and things all over it too, it is adorable. Maybe the coolest part of the story, though, is what happened while they were making it. They were working on it at the office and people kept stopping by to ask what it was, who it was for, etc. A man stopped by and didn't ask who it was for or anything, but just said how special a time it is to welcome a new baby. He got out his wallet and started putting cash on the desk! He said he wanted to help out the new parents, and to tell them to buy a savings bond for the baby. Judging by then bill denominations, he cleaned out his whole wallet. He never wanted to know who it was for, and then he left. All of us in the room were touched by this story of holiday kindness!

  1. I made a diaper cake for Megan and Greg's shower and it took a looong time, so I certainly know how much love and time they put into this diaper cake. It's so cute and sure is useful!
