Six Months

Juliet is six months old! She really seems like she grew so much this month. She has little bits of her personality coming out and it is so fun to watch.

  • The biggest development this month is that Juliet can sit up. Two weeks ago I was telling Peter that, oh well, I guess Juliet won't sit up quite as early as Ben did. And then last week she could do it! At exactly the same time (the week before turning 6 months) that Ben could.

  • Also, rolling is now a true form of transportation. She gets all over the place by rolling and then pivoting on her tummy to change direction. We've got a little backward scooting going on, too.

  • She does this funny thing when she meets new people where she grins hugely at them, and then squirms all over, kicks her legs, and hides against my shoulder. It is awesome. Then she peeks at them, and does the whole thing again. I really need to get it on video!

  • Just in the last week her shrieking has started to have some consonant sounds. No true "mamamamama" or anything, but she is very talkative.

  • Juliet is down to four nursing sessions a day, with three meals in between. It is nice to have her sit with us at lunch and dinner while she gets some food too!

  • Our little girl is an early riser! If she gets a good nights' sleep (minimal wakings) then she is up and ready to go for the day between 5:30 and 6am. Yesterday Pete and Ben slept in but Juliet was up at 5:45, so by the time everyone else got up at 7am we were ready for some company!

  • Juliet's current routine: Nurse at 6am, solids at 7:30ish. Nap at 9ish (usually only 45 minutes or so). Nurse between 10-10:30. Solids at 11:30. Nap at 1pm (can be the long one but sometimes only 1 hr). Nurse at 3pm. If her afternoon nap was short she'll take a 20 minute catnap in the evening. Solids at 6pm. Bath/bedtime routine starts at 7pm, nurse at 7:30pm. She's usually asleep by 8 even if she fusses for a little while. We've stopped giving her a pacifier at bedtime so she sometimes cries for a little while but I think that will get better. We just started the paci denial so she still gets really mad at us!

  • Juliet weighs 14lb 7oz (25%) and is 25 1/4" long (20%). She still wears her 6 months clothes but I'm putting her in her 9 month stuff too so we can get a little more wear out of it.

  • Some outtakes:
