Celebrating Ben's Birthday

The kids and I were off school/work for Ben's 5th birthday, so we celebrated the way any kid would want to - checkups! Haha. Actually, though we did have checkups scheduled for the kids (gotta use those days off), we mainly celebrated with one of Ben's favorite activites - eating at restaurants. First we woke Ben up with his birthday balloons and then went to breakfast at IHOP before Pete headed to work. Then Ben got his teeth cleaned before we headed to McDonalds for lunch. Then both Ben and Juliet had their annual checkups at the pediatrician. Ben got really worked up before his flu shot (at one point I had to chase him down the hallway because he tried to run away!!) but afterward when it barely hurt, he said he felt silly and wouldn't be that scared next time. We'll see! We had a nice afternoon waiting for Katy and Scott and the cousins to get back from a visit to Austin, and then we all met at T-Bone Tom's so Ben could have his favorite food, shrimp, for dinner. He didn't want a cake or cupcakes for dessert, he wanted donuts! He got donut holes with candles in them and we had normal donuts for everyone else. I think even with the doctor visits, Ben still had a really good 5th birthday.
